The Curator's Quest:
A Journey of Antiquing & Treasures

This curated path leads you through the legendary aisles of Beauweevils, the eclectic 'must-sees' at Finders Keepers, and the hidden gems of our historic Main Street. You’ll walk the same streets that saw these treasures in their original glory, fueled by artisan coffee and rewarded with a cold craft brew or local vintage at the 5C Beer & Wine Garden. From the 'Big Finds' to the 'Small Wonders,' your next favorite story starts here.
The "Guided Path"
Small-town life moves at its own pace! Be sure to double-check local hours and event listings before you head out, as shop schedules and concert times often shift with the seasons.
Day 1: Arrival, Downtown Vibes & The First Finds
** As the curator of your stay, Oaklea Mansion serves as the perfect home base—although our itineraries are designed for you to enjoy whether you're staying at Oaklea for in a lake side cottage. (Check out our stays page for great places to stay while enjoying our Small Town East Texas Getaway.)
The Check-In Chill
Start your journey at the historic Oaklea Mansion. Even before you unpack, the grand porch and towering oaks invite you to leave the city noise behind.
*
The Downtown Stroll
From the front porch of Oaklea Mansion, it's a short walk into the heart of the Historic Downtown. Take a high-level orientation stroll to Sinclair Market for a mid-afternoon artisan coffee or tea and a light snack in beautifully restored landmark station.
1
The First Discovery
Head nextdoor to Main Street Antiques & Beauweevils. This is one of Winnsboro’s treasure troves—explore multiple rooms of primitive furniture, architectural salvage, and farmhouse decor.
** Don't forget to say "Howdy" to Beauweevils
2
Lunch with Character: Taco Dive
Just steps away, dive into a meal at Taco Dive. This is where Winnsboro’s modern "flavor" truly shines. With its laid-back, "coastal-meets-country" atmosphere and creative street tacos, it’s the perfect place to settle in after your first few finds. Grab a seat, order a round of their signature tacos, and enjoy a meal fit for the next discovery.
3
Sunset & Sips
Pop into 5C Beer & Wine Garden. Relax in the outdoor courtyard, meet some locals, and toast to the start of your retreat with a Texas craft brew or a crisp glass of wine.
** Be sure to check the schedule for a concert and a good time.
4
The Evening Unwind
Head back to Oaklea Mansion, or your stay, to retreat into the quiet luxury of your suite. Spend a relaxing evening reflecting on the day's discoveries, perhaps with a book or a glass of wine on the veranda. This is your time to unplug, recharge, and prepare your "game plan" for the big hunt tomorrow.
5
Day 2: The Big Hunt & Hidden Gems
Now that you’re settled, today is for the serious collector. Wear your walking shoes and bring your trunk space.
The Morning Launch
Wake up to the quiet elegance of Oaklea Mansion and enjoy a gourmet breakfast that fuels you for the hunt. Each meal is made with ingredients from the local Winnsboro Farmer's Market and prepared special for you.
** If you’re staying somewhere else, grab a quick bite downtown before the shops open!
1
The Main Event (The Big Hunt)
Head straight to Finders Keepers after breakfast. With a full day ahead, you have the energy to tackle this eclectic treasure trove. Known for its expertly curated "must-sees" and unique antiques, this is where your "deep dive" truly begins. From instruments, to outdoor finds (fishing and more), plus fine china this is the place for everyone who enjoys a great antique deep dive.
** Don't forget to say "Hello" to Miss KeeKee
2
Midday Refuel
Take a sophisticated break at Haven's Cafe. It’s the ultimate local spot to sit, hydrate, and look over the photos of the items you’re considering while enjoying a chef-inspired lunch in a cafe style location.
** Make sure and check out their Facebook page before going to see what specials are on the "hidden" menu.
3
The Hidden Find
Visit Amaryllis Antiques, located directly next door to your refuel. You may have even spotted some of their great finds on your way into lunch, but this is not a place to visit while hungry—the unique finds here will make your jaw drop. The interior design skills and signature pieces on display make for some of the most unique finds in East Texas.
4
The Collector's Jackpot
Next meander over to the Edison Exchange a true "insider" destination and a sanctuary for savvy collectors. Dive into their collection of estate jewelry, vintage watches, and coins. Whether you're hunting for a signed Tiffany piece, Art Nouveau treasures, or a Victorian brooch, the Art Deco vibe and "bygone era" elegance here offer a completely different rhythm of discovery.
5
Relax and Admire the Finds
Head back to your home base early this afternoon. This is the perfect time to spread out your treasures, take photos, and admire your great new treasurers. Whether you're at Oaklea in one of the grand suites or your cottage porch, this is the time to truly appreciate the "find".
6
The Evening Meal: The Barrel House Experience
When you’re ready to trade the quiet of the porch for the pulse of the town, head to The Barrel House. This isn't just a dinner; it's an experience. Dive into a craft burger or a hearty meal in a rustic, high-energy atmosphere that serves as the perfect victory lap for a day of heavy hunting. Depending on the night, you might find yourself in the middle of a live music set, a competitive round of games, or just the lively buzz of a packed house. It’s the ultimate way to celebrate your haul and soak in the true social spirit of Winnsboro.

Day 3: The Final Treasures
The Sunday Launch
Wake up to the quiet elegance of Oaklea Mansion. Sunday mornings in a small town have a different rhythm, but as an Oaklea guest, we have everything you need for a slow morning complete with coffee on the side porch. Enjoy a gourmet breakfast before heading to your last antique escape destination.
Pro Tip: If you’re last day is on a weekday, we recommend a quick stop at Honor Coffee for a specialty brew before you hit the road!
1
The Bonus Mile (Wood County Antique Mall)
Before you leave the Piney Woods, make a final stop at the Wood County Antique Mall. Located just a short distance from the downtown heart, this is your last chance to ensure no stone—or shelf—has been left unturned. It’s the perfect place to find that final "trunk filler" you missed during the Saturday rush.
2
The Grand Finale: Z’s Main Street Treats & Eats
Before hitting the highway, fuel up at Z’s Main Street Treats & Eats with legendary comfort food—from their famous onion strings to hearty burgers and basket favorites. Soak in the local atmosphere and share your weekend stories with the folks behind the counter, but don’t leave without the grand finale: a scoop (or two) of their famous ice cream. Whether in a cone or a "traveling cup" for the road, it’s the sweetest way to cap off your weekend of discovery.
3
Farewell Until Next Time
As you pull out of town, take one last moment to enjoy the quaintness of a small town getaway. Your treasures are packed, your spirit is recharged, and the next chapter of your Winnsboro story is already waiting for your return.
