Spanning approximately 2,900 acres of forests, wetlands, and open grasslands, the preserve offers visitors a chance to experience the natural beauty and wildlife of East Texas in a peaceful outdoor setting.
The preserve is home to a diverse ecosystem that supports a wide range of wildlife. Visitors may encounter buffalo, longhorn cattle, deer, and many other native animals while exploring the landscape. Outdoor recreation is a central part of the preserve experience.
Guests can explore miles of hiking and walking trails, scenic biking routes, and equestrian trails that wind through wooded areas, wetlands, and open fields. The park also features fishing ponds, picnic areas, and camping opportunities for those who want to spend more time enjoying the outdoors.
History is also woven into the landscape. Some trails follow historic railroad beds built in the late 1800s, giving visitors a glimpse into the region’s past while enjoying the natural surroundings.
